This document has been prepared to fulfill the requirements for a hydraulic study for the Cave Creek Landfill operated by Maricopa County.
During the period of 1965 through 1984, Maricopa County operated a landfill leased from the U.S. Bureau of Land Management. In 1982 the County leased a separate parcel from the State for the development of a new landfill. The landfill stopped accepting waste in 1998.
To evaluate whether VOCs are migrating out of the landfills into the vadose zone, a soil vapor survey of the soil beneath the landfill bases was performed. Permanent vapor monitoring probes were installed and then sampled twice for VOCs. Groundwater beneath the landfills has been impactd by VOCs, namely TCE, DCE, and toluene.
This monitor well completion report was prepared to document the construction and installation of monitor well MW-3, located on the southeast side of Black Mountain Parkway. It was installed to provide long-term ground-water monitoring.
This Additional Site Characterization Work Plan presents a strategy for collecting site characterization information at the closed Maricopa County Cave Creek Landfill to support ongoing remedial action planning for trichloroethene-impacted groundwater underlying the site. The Work Plan supplements previous remedial investigation work plans prepared to characterize the nature and extent of site contamination.
The purpose of this report is to present the conceptual study results and recommendations for potable water and reclaimed water infrastructure requirements in the HAMP planning area. A second report has already been prepared with study results and recommendations for wastewater facilities. The projected land use assumptions and population projections used in this potable and reclaimed water conceptual plan are consistent with Pima County's Plan.
The initial step in the Master Plan Update for Tucson International Airport is the identification of a series of goals and objectives that will establish guidelines for the planning process. These goals and objectives reflect the input of the Tucson Airport Authority, the Long Range Planning Council, the Airport’s Planning Advisory Committee, and the Airport’s Consultants. The Goals and Objectives will ultimately form the framework for evaluating the recommended long-range development plan and ensuring that the on-going development of the airport is consistent with the airport’s overall strategic objectives.

This report and the accompanying Geographic Information System (GIS) datasets summarize the results of the workshop held in Florence, Arizona in 2010. At this workshop, stakeholders representing a broad range of organizations and interests identified and mapped the locations of important wildlife linkages across Pinal County. This report provides background information on the importance and benefits of conserving wildlife linkages for both people and wildlife in Pinal County and describes the methods used during stakeholder workshops and in developing the accompanying GIS products. It includes a series of maps generated from the digitized stakeholder data that depict the general locations of wildlife linkages and potential barriers to wildlife movement within Pinal County. The maps are followed by tables with descriptive information about the habitat areas each linkage connects, the species each linkage serves, and known threats and potential conservation opportunities associated with each linkage.
Fort Lowell was a supply base for the United States Army “Apache Campaigns” between 1873 and 1891. Following abandonment of the fort in 1891, settlers moved in and used some fort buildings as residences, or stripped the buildings of useful materials. By the 1930s, much of the fort had fallen into disrepair or had been sold off. Eventually, the City of Tucson acquired a large portion of the old fort which became what is today’s “Fort Lowell Park.” A 5.2 acre (“Adkins”) parcel of the former fort containing several original adobe buildings was still in private ownership, and the 2004 County bond election passed a proposal to acquire the land and preserve the historic resources.
