The purpose of this study is to prepare a pedestrian circulation plan for the City of Nogales in the vicinity of and serving the three Nogales Ports of Entry. These ports are the DeConcini and Morley Gate Ports of Entry in downtown Nogales and the Mariposa Port of Entry to the west at SR 189.

This study is to update the current plan entitled "Unified Nogales/Santa Cruz County Transportation 2000 Plan." The local governments need a fresh look and new approach to developing their transportation plan. Purpose: The purpose of this study is to create a useful, workable transportation system planning document that contains a realistic and achievable program for implementing transportation system improvements throughout the city and the county.

The Santa Cruz County Health Department and the sheriff's office, along with the U.S. Border Patrol have expressed concerns regarding incidental contact with the water in Nogales Wash, Arizona. The public has expressed significant concern about direct public exposure to waters flowing in the wash. The Arizona Department of Health Services completed this health consultation to evaluate the levels of organic and inorganic chemicals at the request of the Santa Cruz County Health Department.
