Amendments to the bill establishing the Grand Canyon a National Monument. Circa 1908.
Attendees representing the Association of American State Geologists and the U.S. Geological Survey met in Denver February 21-22, 2007 to discuss opportunities for making their data accessible and interoperable. They recommended that the USGS and State Geological Surveys work together to create a distributed national Geological Information Network (GIN) of digital data through the use of common standards and protocols, that does not impinge on ownership or control of data, and that builds on existing data systems.
