Letter from Carl Hayden to W. W. Bass concerning the passing of the national park bill. Hayden states that he will try to make the bill as advantageous to Arizona miners and farmers as possible, but the land will either remain as a national monument or become a national park. A postscript is added concerning the land allocated for the Havasupai Tribe.
Mission: To regulate and support Arizona Agriculture in a manner that encourages farming, ranching and agribusiness, while protecting consumers and natural resources.

The Arizona Chronic Disease Strategic Plan is a 3-year plan designed to address chronic disease prevention and control. The plan was developed by Arizona stakeholders, both those who currently are and are not engaged in chronic disease prevention and control. To ensure the plan is not “top down” and driven by priorities identified by the state health department, community stakeholders were engaged in developing this strategic plan from the start. This plan was created through a community process and represents voices from across the state.
RTI International is working on behalf of the Arizona Department of Health Services’ Bureau of Tobacco and Chronic Disease to identify existing tobacco-related data and data needs. RTI interviewed ADHS-BTCD’s partnering organizations by telephone and conducted an environmental scan of existing public use datasets. This report describes the results obtained from the environmental scan and the partner telephone interviews, and it discusses recommendations for addressing the identified data gaps.
The goal of the current project was to develop an evaluation framework for BTCD Community Partners that could guide efforts to determine effectiveness and promote sustainability of Arizona’s community-based tobacco control and chronic disease management programs.
The Arizona Department of Health Services initiated the development of this plan with the intent to set priorities by formulating objectives and suggesting strategies to address chronic obstructive pulmonary disease as a serious public health issue in Arizona. This plan begins with a detailed description of chronic obstructive lung disease followed by a discussion of proposed objectives and strategies. The overriding goals of this plan are those stated in the Healthy People 2010: Objectives for Improving Health.
The Arizona Department of Health Services sponsored the development of this plan with the intent to set priorities and suggest strategies to address asthma as a serious chronic disease and public health issue. The plan continues the focus placed on asthma in the Healthy People 2010 report. The plan is meant to serve as an ambitious and comprehensive approach to improving the health and quality of life for those with asthma living in Arizona.
This plan is intended to provide state level agencies, communities, health care providers, funding agencies, organizations, policy and decision makers, and consumers' direction and support in creating a system of care that proactively addresses the prevention, early detection, and treatment of chronic disease in Arizona. It is hoped the framework presented will encourage the development of partnerships to promote a comprehensive and integrated approach to reducing mortality and morbidity due to chronic disease.
