The Violence Prevention Academy was designed to train school-based personnel to develop comprehensive, integrated, evidence-based violence prevention plans tailored to the specific needs of participating schools. Using a combination of face-to-face learning and technical assistance, the training program enhances the skills of school violence prevention specialists and the capacity of the schools where they work to implement and sustain successful violence prevention programs.

The AATA is a state agency whose mission is to deter vehicle theft through a cooperative effort by supporting law enforcement activities, vertical prosecution, and public awareness/community education programs. The AATA's community education message strongly encourages the public to be diligent about practicing theft prevention and utilize a "layered approach" to protection.

The Arizona Department of Transportation, the Arizona Game & Fish Department and the Arizona State Parks Board are required to conduct a study every three years on watercraft fuel consumption and recreational watercraft usage. The fuel consumption data is collected to determine the allocation of motor vehicle fuel tax to the State Lake Improvement Fund. The information on recreational watercraft usage patterns on Arizona’s lakes and rivers is necessary, in part, to determine the distribution of SLIF funds to applicants.

The Arizona Automobile Theft Authority was established by the Arizona Legislature in 1997 to create a statewide effort to reduce auto theft. The AATA is funded through semi-annual assessments of over 400 insurance companies doing business in Arizona and uses no tax dollars. These dedicated funds facilitate a cooperative effort by the insurance industry, law enforcement & criminal justice agencies and the citizens of Arizona. The AATA serves as a unique example of public/private and consumer partnership and is viewed as a national model for effective and sustainable auto theft reduction strategies. The AATA functions as the lead organization in a statewide network of law enforcement, prosecution and public education partners working to combat auto theft in Arizona. By focusing resources in enforcement/investigative units, prosecution efforts, and aggressive public education programs, the AATA, and our statewide law enforcement partners have been impacting our state’s auto theft rate.

By February of 1998, the Deloitte Consulting firm was under contract with the State of Arizona and had embarked upon what would become an extensive ten-month evaluation of the primary components of Arizona’s Juvenile Justice System. The main focus of the audit from the beginning was the Administrative Office of the Courts, the Juvenile Justice Services Division, the juvenile courts and their probation departments, and the Department of Juvenile Corrections. As part of the audit, both financial and program audits were conducted related to prevention, diversion (early intervention), probation and treatment. In December of 1998, Deloitte Consulting issued its final report to the Committee. The report, which consisted of hundreds of pages of detailed findings, concluded that “It is our assessment that the Arizona Juvenile Justice System is one of the best in the nation.”
