During a fiscal year, employment sites are processed by the Trip Reduction Program. The TRP produces a detailed statistical summary report for each employment and student site. In addition, the TRP Task Force, along with the TRP staff, reviewed and approve Trip Reduction plans. The report tracks and analyzes the commuting habits of employees and students in Maricopa County.
Under the Transportation Conformity Rule, transportation control measures are strategies that will reduce transportation-related emissions by reducing vehicle use or improving traffic flow. The Congestion Mitigation Air Quality program is one source of funds for the purposes of reducing congestion and improving air quality.
The Arizona Department of Transportation, the Arizona Game & Fish Department and the Arizona State Parks Board are required to conduct a study every three years on watercraft fuel consumption and recreational watercraft usage. The fuel consumption data is collected to determine the allocation of motor vehicle fuel tax to the State Lake Improvement Fund. The information on recreational watercraft usage patterns on Arizona’s lakes and rivers is necessary, in part, to determine the distribution of SLIF funds to applicants.
METRO is the brand name for Valley Metro Rail Inc., a nonprofit, public corporation charged with the design, construction and operation of the region’s 57-mile high-capacity transit system. Member cities each have a representative on the METRO Board of Directors which establishes overall policies and provides general oversight of the agency and its responsibilities.

The development of a Life Cycle program began for each of the three major transportation elements identified within the Regional Transportation Plan. The RPTA is responsible for preparation of the transit component of the Life Cycle program, and METRO has been further delegated the responsibility to prepare the high capacity transit/light rail transit element.
From Oct. 8 through Dec. 18, 2007, RPTA conducted an Origin and Destination survey of the Valley Metro riders. The objectives were to examine the demographics and travel behavior characteristics of Valley Metro riders.
We are pleased to present a first draft of a Five-Year Strategic Transit Plan for input and review. Your comments and suggestions on the Plan will ensure that transit meets the travel and mobility needs of the Tucson area. Once you have provided your input we will make revisions and issue a final Five-Year Transit Strategic Plan. The Transit Task Force sees this plan as a working document which provides a framework for monitoring the progress of transit in our community. The Plan does not directly answer all your questions or address all of your concerns, but it does outline additional tasks needing to be completed to do so. Thus the Transit Task Force requests that it be given permanent status to ensure continuity in the transit planning and review process, and enabling it to further develop policies identified in the Plan as needing more work.
