The Director of the Arizona Department of Administration provides an annual report to the Governor and the Legislature on the status of the state’s human resources and the operation of the state human resources system. The report includes information on the following:
• All state employees including the executive, legislative and judicial branch agencies.
• The number of employees affected by and reasons for turnover within state service.
• Information concerning employee compensation during the preceding year.
• Overtime pay requirements of all state agencies.
• Other information as determined by the Director.
Every September, the Arizona Department of Administration provides an Advisory Recommendation to the Governor and the Legislature. This document provides an analysis of the state's current compensation levels compared to other public and private sector employers, and a review of the critical factors that must be considered when reviewing compensation strategies. These factors include turnover rates, retirement projections, economic forecasts, and projected market movement. The report concludes with a recommendation to the salary plan for employees in state service.
This new, updated, and expanded Public Service Orientation Guidebook is developed to give public officers an overview of Arizona’s laws concerning ethical standards. Although the Attorney General’s Office offers this Guidebook and a training program to assist you, the Office also is responsible to investigate and prosecute violations of public service laws. Accordingly, it is important that public officers understand that they are each responsible for complying with the law.
In this interview, Peterson Zah reveals personal experiences about his childhood, the struggles of growing up, and how those experiences shaped his life today. Zah reflects on living close to Keams Canyon, trying to keep family traditions, farming, obtaining water, and the hardships of family going to war, scarcity of food and water, and having to relocate multiple times due to the Navajo-Hopi Land Dispute. He recounts his personal experiences attending Tuba City Boarding School, Phoenix Indian School, Phoenix College, and finally Arizona State University. Zah recalls various aspects of his education including his class schedules and routine at Tuba City Boarding School and the goal of Phoenix Indian School being more concerned about vocational training than college preparation. He also takes a moment to address his mentors that helped him throughout the different stages of his education.
