The Arizona Department of Environmental Quality (ADEQ) requested the Arizona Department of Health Services to determine whether exposure to tetrachloroethylene (PCE) in the indoor air of a vacant dry cleaning facility and an attached convenience store posed a health threat to workers renovating the former dry cleaners and the patrons and employees of the convenience store. The former Viking Cleaners operated from 1954 until 2000. The building houses two businesses, Viking Cleaners, which is currently vacant but under renovation, and an attached convenience store that is currently in operation.
The purpose of this human health risk assessment is to determine the extent and likelihood of adverse health effects that could occur as a result of human exposure to chemicals that may have been deposited in homes following the August 31, 1992 fire at the former Quality Printed Circuits facility.
The purpose of this health consultation is to evaluate the air monitoring conducted by the Arizona Department of Environmental Quality at Mary McLeod Bethune School (Phoenix, AZ) and evaluate the potential impact on public health. The air monitoring data includes particulate matter and metals. The ADEQ’s primary objective of this air sampling is to provide an understanding of the hazardous air pollutants in the Phoenix area.
