The State of the System Report is a compilation of the physical inventory and status of the Maricopa County Department of Transportation’s infrastructure. It addresses roadway congestion, traffic safety, low volume road paving, bridges, and pavement conditions. Also, included are recommendations for future improvements within each of the infrastructure categories. The SOS report has been produced annually since 1998.

We have an opportunity now that we have not had in the past 25 years to develop some comprehensive planning so that we can continue to enjoy the environmental amenities that make it so nice to live in Tucson. These species include not only the common one that we live with on a day to day basis, but also some of the rare species that most of us are not lucky enough to see (but still care about preserving).

The purpose of the plan is to make sure public funds are spent wisely, natural resources are conserved, and the health, safety and welfare of the residents are enhanced. It is a living document that can be amended anytime through proper procedures. It must be reviewed and updated every ten years. It is simply a guide to future growth and land use.
