Description
A contract between Luis Esteban, a Chinese settler, and Santiago. The contract was to last for six months and lists the legal requirements of both the employee and the employer. Notes that Luis Esteban completed a contract with Santiago previously. Luis Esteban did not negotiate or sign the contract as the signature stipulates that someone else signed for him. This is signed by the governor, Santiago, and two witnesses.

This collection of personal documents that belonged to Antonio- a Chinese settler, formed his application packet to become a permanent resident of Cuba. Included in this selection are his baptism certificate, his personal ID card, letters of recommendation, and his original first contract, among several other documents. The first page in the collection is a written request for Antonio's permanent residence, and the final passage in the last page is the acceptance of his request. 1863.

Description
Three separate records from the Church of San Juan Bautista for the burial to three Chinese settlers. Each burial was paid for by the owner of the settler One burial was for Encarnacion and paid for by his owner, Carlos Ortiz. The second settler's burial was paid for by the Matanzas Railroad Company. The third, Leoncia's burial was also paid for by the Matanzas Railroad Company. 1866.

Description
This is a death certificate that was issued for Tomasm a free Chinese settler, who died at the Hospital de Caridad de San Felipe y Santiago. The reason is not explained. Tomas was 53 at the time of his death, and was admitted into the hospital on October 1, 1874. His body was buried in the general cemetery near the hospital on October 11.
