Description
Complacent pollen records associated with both extinct fauna and archaeological remains argues that Southwest has been semi-arid throughout Late- and Post-Pleistocene.

DescriptionPollen records from two features at site LA 9200 dated by correspondence with the Colorado Plateau Pollen Chronology.

DescriptionPollen records from 1 surface and 3 archaeological-context samples suggest the two BM II sites are not contemporaneous.

Description
Pilot study of 9 pollen samples to assess pollen preservation, potential to aid stratigraphic analysis, and recognition of environmental changes.

DescriptionUnpublished report, 1965
Discusses local vegetation patterns, modern pollen/vegetation relationships, pollen sequence and chronology for the site, correspondence of ceramic-dated pollen horizons at this site with those elsewhere in the SW, cultural ecological implications of the pollen record, and plant resource availability during prehistoric occupation.

DescriptionPollen records of samples from four archaeological sites excavated as a highway salvage project in New Mexico allow feature cross-dating, chronological placement of the sites, and paleoenvironmental reconstructions.

DescriptionComparison of pollen records of 7 archaeological context samples from this site with the Colorado Plateau Pollen Chronology suggests occupation began before A.D. 850 and persisted at least until A.D. 900. These dates are consistant with associated ceramic styles.

DescriptionCulmination study of palynological research on samples collected in Mammoth Cave National Park (MCNP) initiated 1974, continued 1978. Reports Early Woodland archaeological-context recovery of maize and cucurbit pollen, summarizes overall research results and archaeological implications.

DescriptionClassroom excercise study of 32 samples from proxy surface, dune and pithouse contexts. Analysis used pollen categories rather than traditional pollen taxa. Results suggest the site's occupation history incorporates 5 distinct episodes of ecosystem change.

Description
Sediment samples associated with a Mesolithic site on the shore of Tatton Mere contain pollen "downwashed" through the deposits since establishment of a soil on an aeolian dune that developed at the locale in Romano-British times. Application of the method suggested in Schoenwetter, 1990, "Method for the Application of Pollen Analysis in Landscape Archaeology," allows interpretation of the pollen sequence in terms of changes in local landuse. The result is wholly consistant with the sequence of landuses recorded for the locale since the 11th century. Rejected for European publication by reviewers.
