(Top photo) Body guards at the Chinese Red Army Headquarters, North Shensi (Shaanxi) (Bottom photo)Into the ranks of the Chinese Communists have come men and women of every race, including the most oppressed of the aboriginal tribes of western China, Tibet and Central Asia. This is a photo of two Lolo tribesmen aborigines of far western and southwestern China. They are students in the Communist Party School at Yenan (Yan'an).

(Top photo) The communist guerrillas organized villages in the rear of the Japanese during the war, held lectures for weeks on methods of democracy, then the people held their first democratic elections for village and own administrators. (Bottom photo) First democratic elections in a guerrilla territory recovered from the Japanese in Central China. People were given "ballot papers" red pieces of paper meaning "yes" green meaning "no". The names of the candidates were then read out and the "ballot box", a basket, held up to receive the votes.

Next: a former professor in a Christian University, a Christian. I have lost my names. I spent a week with this detachment.
