(Top photo) Former student of the Wuhan Art School who commanded a guerrilla detachment with whom I travelled for a week in the enemy rear in central Hupeh (Hubei). (Bottom photo)Thousands of educated youth from Shanghai joined the New 4th Army (a guerrilla unit) along the lower Yangtze River. The photo shows a group of them training to sing four part singing. This was the first time four-part was introduced to the Chinese army.
